Pow Wows bring together a multitude of Native Americans to share their culture and join in the unique dancing and singing and drumming and to enjoy Native American Indian food, arts & crafts, and more – not only for their own celebration of their heritage but also to entertain and educate a multitude of other cultures in the USA.

Denver March Pow Wow
Denver Coliseum – Denver, Colorado
One of the main Pow Wow events in the US, celebrating an ancient heritage, the Denver March Pow Wow has been a success for more than 36 years and is famous for featuring more than 700 dancers and musicians from 70 different tribes. Each year, this popular event at the Denver Coliseum presents amazing dances in different styles derived from traditional dances of the various tribes, eye catching costumes, a much attended Storytelling Room, busy and innovative arts and crafts stands, and samples of delicious and unusual Native American food.

Gathering of Nations
Albuquerque, New Mexico
North America’s biggest Pow Wow recognized as THE pow wow, and noted here as one of the Top 10 American Pow Wows in the USA, the Gathering of Nations at the University of New Mexico basketball arena begins with the Grand Entry, a parade of dancing and drumming with members of more than 500 tribes, all in full, traditional costumes. The event carries on with more dancing and drumming and musical performances by American Indian musicians, and even the very popular Miss Indian World pageant.

Red Earth Festival
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Showcasing more than 1,200 American Indian artists and dancers from all over the USA and representing over 200 different tribes, the Red Earth Festival has become one of the most respected visual and performing Pow Wows in America. One of the Top 10 American Pow Wows in the USA, the Red Earth Festival takes place in Oklahoma and comes complete with a downtown parade, followed by the Grand Entry, drum and dance contests including fancy feather dancing, and a juried art show of Native American-inspired works.

Grand Celebration Powwow
This Indian event is the largest Pow Wow in the Midwest with over 1,200 dancers, drummers and singers from nearly every tribe in the USA and Canada participating. One of the main Pow Wow events in the US, the Grand Celebration Powwow showcases– Native Americans from all around the country coming together to compete and honor their traditions and heritage. In addition to the dancing, visitors learn American Indian traditions, eat Indian food and can purchase Indian crafts.

As they have done at the Tanana Valley Fairgrounds in Fairbanks since the year 2000, Native Americans, Alaska Natives and First Nations people of Canada gather to share similarities and diversities, dance, song, stories, and traditions, and to educate the general public about the heritage of the indigenous people of North America.

United Tribes International Powwow
Bismarck, North Dakota
The Powwow is held annually in the Lone Star Arena at United Tribes Technical College, one of the premier Tribal Colleges in the United States, and has become one of the premier cultural events of North Dakota, receiving numerous awards over the years. Representing over 70 tribes, featuring over 1,500 dancers and drummers, and drawing over 20,000 spectators the Powwow has become a must-see event featuring "Champion" dancers and singers from the US and Canada competing for top honors. Morongo Thunder and Lightning Pow Wow
A popular event since 1990, and recently named the number 1 Contest Pow Wow by viewers at Powwows.com, the Morongo Thunder and Lightning Pow Wow calls on all who attend the Pow Wow to come as participants – all part of a circle of people with no beginning and no end. One of the unique highlights of this Pow Wow and those of other southern California tribes, is "bird dancing," in which the younger tribal members seem to start and stop on random beats.

Tennessee State Pow-Wow
A popular event for more than 30 years, the Tennessee State Pow Wow taking place during Native American Indian Month features Indians from around the USA who gather to share part of their culture. This event, which has been picked as one of the Top 16 Pow Wows in the USA by Native Peoples Magazine, features everything from dance competitions and drum contests to Native American arts and crafts, Indian games, authentic Indian food, clothing, story-telling, and live music.

Moundville Native American Festival
Now one of the top tourism events in Alabama, and a big celebration of Southeast Indian heritage and culture, Alabama’s Moundville Native American Festival at the University of Alabama’s Moundville Archaeological Park features the very unique artistry of the performers, artists, craftspeople and tradition bearers of the Southeastern Indians.

Since 1998, Pahrump Valley has celebrated the spirit and culture of the region’s earliest American Indian inhabitants with its annual social Powwow. Festivities include tribal dancers resplendent in native dress, traditional songs, arts and crafts, tribal booths, and authentic Indian teepees. There are also cash prizes of $6,000 each awarded to the winners of a dance competition and drum competition. The Grand Entry is scheduled between 11:30 a.m. and noon both Saturday and Sunday.
