Historic Garden Week

The oldest and largest statewide home and garden tour event in the country, regions across Virginia host garden tours throughout Historic Garden Week. Each tour features four to seven sites, including private homes and public attractions, showcasing formal gardens, walled gardens, cottage gardens, cutting gardens, annual and perennial gardens, herb gardens, water gardens, and even secret gardens.

Virginia International Tattoo

Recognized as the largest show of its kind in the USA, and one of the top 20 events and festivals in Virginia USA, the annual Virginia International Tattoo, featuring more than 800 artists from all over the world, is a presentation of marching bands, massed pipes and drums, drill teams, gymnasts, Scottish dancers, and choirs – all taking part in only three performances. Norfolk NATO Festival

Norfolk, Virginia

The Norfolk NATO Festival is the longest continuously operating Festival in the Hampton Roads area, and it is the only Festival in the United States which honors the NATO Alliance. Formerly known as Norfolk’s International Azalea Festival, the Norfolk NATO Festival recognizes and celebrates the International Influence that the NATO Command brings to the City of Norfolk. Highlights include educational programs in the Public Schools, a Flag Raising Ceremony recognizing all NATO Country Flags, a grand parade of floats and marching bands, and NATOFest in Downtown Norfolk’s Town Point Park featuring international food and entertainment. These events are free and open to the public.

Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival

PANorama Caribbean Music Fest

Pungo Strawberry Festival

Chautauqua Festival

The Chautauqua Festival, a free, 8-day arts and music festival for all the family, has been an increasingly popular event for almost three decades. The fun of the festival begins with a display of hot air balloons in the dusk of the fist evening followed by a hot air balloon flight rally the next morning. Other popular features of the festival include art displays and photo exhibits, a crafts bazaar, a wide variety of food vendors and lots of entertainment from musicians to clowns on the two main stages.

Old Fiddlers Convention

Now more than 70 years old, the Galax Old Fiddlers Convention is the granddaddy of all fiddling conventions. East Coast Surfing Championships

top Surfing USA eventsThe 50th annual East Coast Surfing Championships event, North America’s oldest running surfing competition, held on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront features more than a hundred of the world's top surfers as they compete for large prizes in the region of $50,000. American Music Festival

Oceana Air Show

Richmond Folk Festival

100 Miles of Lights

For almost two months, seven Virginia cities, from Virginia's capital city to the Atlantic Ocean, play host to the exciting, award-winning 100 Miles of Lights event offering fun for all ages with such activities as spectacular light musical performances, drive-thru and walk-thru light shows, decorated historic homes and more. Fun activities include lighted boat parades, city illuminations, festivals, parades, living history re-enactments, caroling, dining events, music and dance right through the region from Thanksgiving to New Year's Day.

Holiday Lights at the Beach

The largest grand illumination display on the Atlantic seaboard, Holiday Lights at the Beach features animated nautical and holiday-themed light displays along the Virginia Beach boardwalk attracting over 100,000 visitors each year. Features include 25 blocks of festive fish, jumping dolphins, and frolicking porpoises, gently rocking sailboats, and mermaids, surfing Santas, giant gift-wrapped packages, and a 3-story Christmas tree.
