Two of the main Maryland events and festivals are the Baltimore Artscape, one of the largest free arts festival in the USA for over 30 years, and the White Marlin Open in August in Harbour Island, Ocean City, the world’s largest billfish tournament.

Dr Martin Luther King Jr Parade

American Craft Council Baltimore Show

St Patrick's Parade

Top St Patrick's Day Events in  the USACelebrating Saint Patrick's Day, the focus of the St Patrick’s Parade in Baltimore is not only on the parade featuring thousands of locals dressed in green highlighting Irish culture, music, song, and dance, complete with Irish pipe bands and Irish dance troupes, but also on the Shamrock 5K Run, recognized as the best 5K race in Baltimore, followed by the famous post-race party.

Preakness Race Festival

One of the main Maryland events, and America’s oldest races (running for over 137 years) and considered one of the biggest sporting events in the USA, the Preakness Race is part of the famous Triple Crown along with the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont Stakes, and attracts over 100,000 enthusiasts every year as a part of, and the focus of, the Preakness Festival itself that is a week-long celebration including a downtown outdoor party, a parade and a hot-air balloon festival.

Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race

Baltimore, Maryland

An unusual event, the Baltimore Kinetic Sculpture Race features amphibious (able to use either land or water), human powered works of art custom built for this unusual event as they take part in an eight-hour race covering 15 miles along the Baltimore pavements and through the mud and sand of Chesapeake Bay. Every year, this event recognized as the the East Coast Championship race attracts kinetic sculptures from across the eastern USA.

Andrews Air Force Base Joint Services Air Show

Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks
4th July
Annapolis, Maryland

One of the main Maryland events, beginning with an Independence Day Parade through the city's downtown area, the celebrations that are part of the Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks continue with the band concert at City Dock followed by the fireworks launched from a barge in the Annapolis Harbor. Generally, the best viewing areas from City Dock will be at Susan Campbell Park.

African American Festival

Baltimore Artscape

One of the Top 20 Maryland USA events and festivals and one of the largest free arts festival in the USA for over 30 years, the three-day Artscape event attracts more than 360,000 enthusiasts every year to enjoy the work of hundreds of fine artists, artists, fashion designers and craftspeople. Highlighting the event is a wealth of performing arts including dance, opera, theater, film, experimental music, live concerts on outdoor stages and the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Family oriented events include the ever popular hands-on projects for children, demonstrations, competitions, children's entertainers and street theater, and of course the international menu of food and beverages.

White Marlin Open
early August
Harbour Island – Ocean City, Maryland

Top Fishing Tournaments in the USAAnother of the Top 20 Maryland USA events and festivals, the world’s largest billfish tournament, the White Marlin Open is an event that can be fun and exciting for the spectators as well as the anglers. All fish must be weighed on the official scale at Harbour Island each day of the tournament from 4 to 9:15pm and the weigh-ins are open to the public free of charge. As the week goes on, the suspense builds, as potential lottery sized fortunes change hands with a tip of the scale. There are prizes for catching white marlin, blue marlin, tuna, wahoo, dolphin and shark. Between 300 and 400 boats participate each year for $3.5-million in prize money.

National Hard Crab Derby and Fair
late August – early September
Crisfield, Maryland

A popular event for more than 65 years, the National Hard Crab Derby and Fair has everything from crab cooking and crab picking competitions, to the 10K-K race/walk, Governor`s Cup Race and National Hard Crab Derby Race, wrestling competitions, a boat docking contest, gospel concert, carnival, and the ever popular fireworks display that completes the four days of the fair.

Maryland Renaissance Festival
late August – mid October
Crownsville, Maryland

Just one of many of the USA’s popular Renaissance events, the Maryland Renaissance Festival has been a popular and hugely attended event for over 36 years, and features within the Renaissance era village a wide selection of musicians, a king and a queen and their knights, choral groups, craftspeople and artisans including glass blowers and merchants and special events such as jousting competitions, a weekend focussing on a Scottish Celebration and even a weekend all about pirates.

Sunfest

Ocean City’s biggest, best and most popular festival, Sunfest offers a wealth of fine art, distinctive crafts, performers on two stages and a variety of food vendors including gourmet delights and Eastern Shore specialties. Baltimore Book Festival
late September

Regarded as the Mid-Atlantic’s premier celebration of the literary arts, and a popular event for over 17 years, the Baltimore Book Festival showcases a wealth of books with appearances by their authors together with appropriate book signing sessions, non-stop authors’ readings on multiple stages, panel discussions and workshops. Germantown OktoberFEST

Oktoberfest is Montgomery County Maryland’s flagship Upcounty event at which people from all over come together to celebrate the community and heritage. Fells Point Fun Festival

Originally set to draw attention to the efforts to preserve the Fell's Point National Historic District, Fell’s Point Fun Festival has since been a favorite event and has been for over 45 years. Now one of Baltimore's biggest events attracting more than 700,000 people every year, the Fells Point Fun Festival offers five stages of live entertainment with everything from gospel to rock and roll music, a carnival, arts and crafts, the docking of the magnificent tall ships, the ever popular beer gardens and over 50 food vendors offering foods from around the world.

Waterfowl Festival
early November
Easton, Maryland

This is the ultimate weekend for the sophisticated sportsman or art lover. Twelve venues throughout Easton feature world-class wildlife paintings, sculpture, carvings and photos. There are collectible decoys, sporting gear and adventures to delight every outdoorsman. A wine tasting pavilion is not to be missed. Also scheduled are World Championship Calling Contests, decoy auctions, retriever, fly-fishing and stunt dog demonstrations, kid's activities, and evening concerts. A festive atmosphere topped by great food and music make this event a “must each November.

Winterfest of Lights
mid November - end December
Ocean City, Maryland

Now with more than 1,000,000 lights and hundreds of displays, the 1-and-a-half-month celebration draws thousands of visitors to Northside Park at 125th Street and bayside. From mid-November until New Year's, visitors can see unique light setups befitting a seaside resort, with Surfing Santas, animated Sharks, Santa hooking a Marlin from a charter boat, jumping Marlin, and Santa playing softball. At Northside Park, the centerpiece of the celebration, visitors are welcomed by a magnificent sand sculpture and the city's 60-foot Christmas tree.

Baltimore Thanksgiving Parade

Baltimore, Maryland

Baltimore's Thanksgiving Parade kicks off the holiday season with spectacular floats, gigantic balloons, marching bands, cheerleading teams, and community and cultural groups, and the official arrival of Santa Claus to Baltimore. After the parade, children can stop by Santa's Place, coordinated by Harborplace & The Gallery, to sit on his lap, share their holiday wishes, and have their picture taken.

Festival of Trees

Timonium, Maryland

The largest holiday-themed event in the Mid-Atlantic region, the Festival of Trees features more than 500 beautifully decorated trees, wreaths and gingerbread houses plus holiday crafts shopping at more than 100 craft boutiques, hourly live entertainment and, of course, Santa. The 3-day extravaganza takes place at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

A Monumental Occasion
early December
Baltimore, Maryland

A tradition for more than 36 years, Mount Vernon Place celebrates the holiday season and annual lighting of the Washington Monument with an evening of choir performances, strolling entertainment, and more. A Monumental Occasion takes place Thursday, December 4 with pre-event festivities at 5:30p.m. in Mount Vernon. The ceremony begins at 6pm with the official lighting at approximately 6:50pm. The evening includes performances, strolling entertainment, refreshments, and the official lighting by the mayor. The event ends with a colorful fireworks finale choreographed to music.
