Sony Open in Hawaii

Each January the Sony Open in Hawaii attracts 144 of the world's greatest golf professionals to the Waialae Country Club on the island of Oahu. The event is the largest charity event in Hawaii and has raised over $7 million dollars for the local non-for-profits since 1999. One of the most international events on the PGA TOUR schedule, the Sony Open showcases international golf talent and camaraderie against the backdrop of Hawaii’s natural beauty to the world.
Merrie Monarch Festival
March/April
Big Island, Hawaii
The Merrie Monarch Festival is considered the world's premier forum for people of all ages to display their skills and knowledge of the art of ancient and modern hula. The week-long festival begins with Ho’olaulea (music festival) and continues all week with other festivities and the hula competition. The big Merrie Monarch Royal Parade through Hilo ends the festival.

Aloha Festivals

Aloha Festivals was first held in 1947 as Aloha Week, but has grown over the past five decades to encompass nearly a hundred events statewide over a two month period. It has become a celebration of our Hawaiian Culture integrated with the traditions and cultures of each of the islands through music, dance, cuisine and art. Each year, hundreds of volunteers labor to stage the events, which are enjoyed by nearly one million people.

Molokai Hoe Canoe Race

Celebrating more than 55 crossings of the Kaiwi Channel, this men’s race attracts more than 100 teams of canoe paddlers from around the world. It starts at Hale O Lono Harbor on Molokai and finishes at Duke Kahanamoku Beach in Waikiki across 41 miles of open-ocean. The Molokai Hoe is one of the longest running annual team sporting events in Hawaii, second only to football. The Molokai Hoe tests the limits of physical and mental strength and endurance, courage determination and teamwork, and paddlers must also battle nature's most extreme elements.

Ford Ironman World Championship
Big Island, Hawaii
The defining race in the sport for any avid triathlete, the Ford Ironman World Championship features 1,800 of the strongest triathletes in one of the biggest challenges the sport has to offer. Highlights of the challenge include 2.4-miles of swimming, 112-miles of biking, and a 26.2-mile marathon run through tough ocean waves, and challenging lava-covered terrain.
What makes this event so unique is that "average" people get to compete alongside the best in the world.

Vanc Triple Crown of Surfing

E Ho `i Mai I Ka Piko Hula
World Invitational Hula Festival

A major event for more than 17 years, the World Invitational Hula Festival is an ongoing celebration of Hawaiian culture, art, history, language, and relationship to all natural things in the Hawaiian Environment.
Hula halau (schools) from Hawaii, California, Mexico, and Japan gather to celebrate the Hawaiian culture and language at the Waikiki Shell where they perform traditional and contemporary hula judged by kumu hula(masters).

Honolulu Marathon

One of the world’s largest and most festive road races, the Honolulu Marathon 26.2-mile, scenic course includes spectacular views along world famous Waikiki Beach and Diamond Head.
Since the race began in 1973 it has grown to include more than 30,000 athletes, a good number of which travel from as far as Japan to take part.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks Celebration
