Since 1890, millions of spectators from around the world celebrate the New Year with the annual Rose Parade featuring the beautiful pageantry and tradition of magnificent floral floats, high-stepping equestrians and spirited marching bands. The Rose Parade has grown from a local Pasadena institution to a national ceremony and an international event considered among the top 100 events in the USA. Kingdom Day Parade

Citywide – Los Angeles, California

martin luther kingSponsored by the Council on Racial Equality (CORE), and paying tribute to and honoring the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr, the two-mile Kingdom Day Parade displays more than 150 floats, numerous drill teams, dance groups, a military marching band, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department equestrian unit and the Los Angeles Police Department motorcycle drill team as well as various celebrities.

Golden Dragon Parade
end January / Chinese New Year
Chinatown – Los Angeles, California

The highlight of the Chinese New Year celebrations in Southern California, the Golden Dragon Parade has been going strong for over a century and now attracts more than 110,000 well wishers every year as the parade, complete with one-hundred-foot-long dragons, firecrackers and martial arts demonstrations, travels along North Broadway in the City of Angels’ Chinatown.

Blessing of the Animals

El Pueblo de Los Angeles Historical Monument – Los Angeles, California

A popular event for over 80 years, the Blessing of the Animals ceremony in the City of Angels features the blessing the animals for the benefits they provide mankind and focuses not on livestock, but all beloved pets including dogs, cats, birds and hamsters, pot-bellied pigs, snakes, ferrets and other exotic creatures who all line up at the La Placita at El Pueblo de the Historical Monument for a sprinkling of holy water to ensures the animals' good health for the coming year.

Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach

Doo Dah Parade

A well known and fun parody of the Rose Parade that has been going strong for over 34 years, the Doo Dah Parade, following much the same route as the original Rose Parade, is filled with “wild and wacky floats” that are known for their somewhat harmless bad taste, irreverent fun and political satire with dozens of odd-ball floats and parade participants. Also known as the “twisted sister “of the original Rose Parade, the Doo Dah Parade was named by Readers Digest as "America's Best Parade," and was also featured in the book 50 Places You Must Visit Before You Die!

Renaissance Pleasure Faire

Monterey Jazz Festival

Hollywood Christmas Parade

An American tradition for 80 years, the Hollywood Christmas Parade features Santa Claus himself announcing the official start of the Holiday Season, along with movie celebrities, floats of all shapes and sizes, and marching bands, folk dancing, giant balloons and equestrians and favorite Disney and DreamWorks Animation characters.

Festival Navideno de la Calle Ocho
