Celebrating its 55th year in 2011, the St. James Court Art Show ® is one of the most prestigious shows in the country. With over 750 juried artists from North America, your hardest decision will be what not to buy. Voted the best art show in the nation in an annual survey of artists by the trade journal Sunshine Artist in 2003, 2004 and 2006, it is attended annually by more than 300,000 people.
This fine arts and fine crafts show is produced by a consortium of five non-profit neighborhood associations and one church in the St. James Court district in the heart of historic Old Louisville among the country’s largest collection of Victorian homes.
What began as a small art show to raise money for fountain repairs in 1957, by 1967 attendance had reached 40,000 with over 200 exhibitors offering a “mélange of paintings, antiques, photographs, flowers, painted stones, portrait sketches, ceramic and assorted bric-a-brac.” By 1992 St James Court Art Show had tripled in size from 200 to 600 exhibitors.
The St James Court Art Show has brought the neighborhood together and put Old Louisville on the map as home to one of the best art shows in the country.
