KANSAS SMOKY HILL RIVER FESTIVAL
June,
Salina, Kansas
The Smoky Hill River has served as the defining landmark of life at the edge of the Tallgrass prairie for millennia more than Salina’s one hundred and fifty years.

Every year for the past thirty-five years, the dynamic cultural life of Salina, Kansas, has been celebrated at the Smoky Hill River Festival, an event that honors the river and echoes the arts ecology of the community.
The Festival is the magnet that draws people together to commemorate this place – through art, artistry and artists – and through the joy of marking time with one another.
The Smoky Hill River Festival takes place in Oakdale Park, adjacent to the Salina Bicentennial Center, with free parking and free admission for children age 11 and under. It’s a feel-good, custom-fitted party – lie back or raise the roof – it’s your choice!
Kids will discover: playful encounters at the Children’s Stage, an abundance of art materials and hands-on activities, games, the “First Treasures – Art for Young Collectors” program, facepainting, and dazzling interactive experiences. Admission is Free to children age 11 and under.
Two national competitions bring 150 exceptional exhibitors to the Festival’s Fine Art Show and Four Rivers Craft Show. Kansas’ #1 shows present a marketplace of the highest quality, achieving acclaim and recognition from ArtFair SourceBook, National Association of Independent Artists, Sunshine Artist and the Harris List. Did you know Festival Gift Certificates are available throughout the year? You can give the gift of the Festival anytime you’d like.
From national headline acts to regional players with tremendous talent, the Festival transports visitors to lands far away and to their own back yard. Jazz, rock, a capella, bluegrass, country, classical, alternative, rap, hip-hop or Christian music; you’ll find it here. Along with a plethora of roving performances, puppetry, clowning and more!
