INDIANA FEAST OF THE HUNTERS MOON
September,
West Lafayette, Indiana
The Tippecanoe County Historical Association of Lafayette, Indiana, in cooperation with the Tippecanoe County Parks and Recreation Department, annually presents the Feast of the Hunters’ Moon.

The “Feast” derives its name from the moon cycles of the Miami Indian calendar, and is held along the banks of the Wabash River in the fall during the phase of the “Hunters’ Moon”. The event represents the time of homecoming, feasting, dancing and celebrating from the earliest days of historic Fort Ouiatenon.
Quiatenon was built in 1717 and burned to the ground in 1791. Eighteenth century music, crafts, dance, food and the life-ways of the Fort Ouiatenon outpost’s original inhabitants are recreated as the fort comes alive once again at the Feast of the Hunters’ Moon every fall. Over 40 different recreated period foods, including buffalo, Scottish meat pies, and pork chops, puts the “feast” in the Feast!
Education is a strong focus of the event. Seven different arenas and stages plus numerous locations on the 30 acres of festival grounds feature outstanding performances by musicians, interpreters, military re-enactors and Native American groups. Activities for children, including candle dipping, costume try-on, bead crafts and an area where children learn to trade for goods like their 18th century counterparts did, offer multiple opportunities for young people to have fun. The Feast also offers two special days the Thursday and Friday before the event that are set aside for area school children.
The Tippecanoe County Historical Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of Tippecanoe County residents and visitors by collecting, preserving, and interpreting its unique and exciting history. The Historic Fort Ouiatenon Blockhouse Museum at Fort Ouiatenon Park, 3921 South River Road, West Lafayette, Indiana is open as part of the regular summer programming of the Association.
The Tippecanoe County Historical Association offers several different family value packages and discounted tickets to the Feast of the Hunters’ Moon if purchased in advance. Advance single day tickets are $25.00 per family (2 adults and up to 4 children), $10.00 for adults, and $5.00 for children ages 4-16. Children under the age of 4 are free.
