Craft Expo includes more than 175 artists from across the country – a mix of first-time and returning exhibitors, whose exquisite-quality handmade crafts consistently help rank this event as one of the top craft shows in New England and the country.
All have been accepted into the show by a panel of professional peers. Works on display include the following media: Clay, Glass, Leather, Metal, Mixed Media, Metal and Non-Metal Jewelry, Wearable and Non-Wearable Fiber, Paper, Photography, Polymer Clay, Soap and Wood.
The show has been written up by publications ranging from Yankee Magazine to American Style, which has included the annual Guilford gathering as one of the nation’s “Can’t-Miss Craft Shows.” As a celebration of the arts and a signature event for the town of Guilford, Craft Expo has become a point of pride for the Connecticut shoreline. It attracts 10,000 artists, collectors and visitors from across the USA. Additional attractions at the event include a food court with lunch and dinner fare and other speciality foods, a Silent Auction of donated crafts, musical performances, and more.
The Guilford Art Center is a non-profit organization established to nurture and support excellence in the arts through education, communication, and outreach. It works to preserve craft traditions and foster innovation by providing opportunities for individuals to experience and appreciate the arts and the creative process.
Set as it is amidst antique residences, venerable churches and stylish shops, visitors to Craft Expo will find much to entertain them – although the Craft Expo will fully occupy them. At Guilford’s heart is the beautiful Guilford Green, close to many 17th through 19th century houses and churches. The Henry Whitfield State Museum, built in 1639, is Connecticut's oldest house and New England's oldest stone house; Hyland House (circa 1690-1710) is a red saltbox home with five hearths, original moldings and woodwork and a fine collection of furniture and decorative arts; and the Medad Stone Tavern, originally built in 1803 as a tavern never made it as a tavern and is now a museum.
